MEMORIAL OBJECTS
What to do with a pet’s collar after they die
You do not have to decide immediately. A collar can stay exactly where it is until you know what feels right.
Some options
Keep it untouched
Store it in a small box with a favorite photograph and note. There is nothing wrong with leaving it as it was.
Frame it with one ordinary photo
A simple shadow box can preserve the object without turning it into something overly formal.
Keep the tag separately
A tag can live in a drawer, key dish, keepsake box, or small frame if the full collar feels too large to display.
Write the story of the sound
Sometimes the memory isn't the collar itself—it is the jingle in the hallway. Write that down.
There is no deadline. The correct memorial is the one that feels like your relationship, not the one that looks most memorial-like.
